On Sunday 9 March 2025, Amy Bourke, a parishioner at Sacred Heart attended the Rite of Election for Catechumens.
The ceremony was held at the St Francis Savior Cathedral and Amy was accompanied by her sponsor, Gael Little, and a number of other parishioners.
The coordinator, Bernadette Smith, carried the Book of the Elect and accompanied Amy as she was presented to the Archbishop, Patrick O'Regan. Amy's name was duly entered into the book.
The Rite of Election is about being chosen by God to become a disciple of Jesus Christ through baptism.
The Catechumens expressed their intention to receive the sacraments of initiation and live as disciples.
