Feast Day Devotions - The Franciscan Ethos and the

Feast of Our Lady of the Visitation are important to the

Lefevre Catholic Community.

​

In the beginning, the Diocesan priests worked from the parent

church of the Sacred Heart, Semaphore to guide the first steps

of OLV. In 1966 the Parish of Taperoo was established

independently from Semaphore and given into the care of the

Franciscan Order. Fr Sylvester Campbell was the last

Franciscan to serve in the parish of Taperoo. The 25th

Anniversary of the Foundation of the Parish of Our Lady of the

Visitation occurred in 1991. A big financial commitment had

been made by the Semaphore Parish to purchase the land and

erect the building. The people who banded together to start the

Taperoo Catholic Parish were true pioneers. The money and

time they gave to the project was not what they had to spare,

but what they had sacrificed.

The Lefevre Catholic Community will celebrate

the Feast of Our Lady of the Visitation,

with a special devotion in honour of

St. Francis of Assisi and Our Lady at OLV Church Taperoo

at 2pm
