Message from
Father Roderick O'Brien

Welcome to the website of the Lefevre Catholic Community. If we can’t meet face-to- face, at least we can meet electronically.

The people of our Lefevre Catholic Community are part of the global Catholic Church community. We are followers of Jesus Christ, in the Catholic tradition. Please read on to know about our spirituality and prayer, our community activities, and many other good items of information.

The Lefevre Catholic Community is a parish within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Adelaide. Geographically, we serve the people of the Lefevre Peninsula in the north-west of Adelaide. Our parish includes all Catholics resident on the peninsula – even if you haven’t participated in our activities for a long time, you are still welcome.

Blessings to you and your family,

Fr Roderick

Goodbye and Thank You

On Christmas Day, my placement in the Lefevre Catholic Community will come to an end.

Last year when I was told that I would was being placed in this parish I knew very little about it, but from the moment I arrived you have made me feel incredibly welcome. It is has been wonderful to be involved in so many different aspects of the parish. It has also been a privilege to be invited into so many of your homes. You have provided a fantastic environment for me to learn about parish life and the ministry of a parish priest. I have also been warmly welcomed into the parish schools,· Dominican and Our Lady of the Visitation, for which I am greatly appreciative.

This time with you has also helped me to discern God's call in my life and has strengthened my confidence that God is indeed calling me to the diocesan priesthood. Thank you to everyone who has supported me over this year, whether through discussions, encouragement, prayer or a combination thereof. Though it is impossible to name everyone, I would like to particularly thank the leaders of the committees and ministries I was able to work with, Dennis Kennedy (Vinnies), Ian Keane (Stella Maris) and Gael Little (Parish Pastoral Council), those who made up my feedback . group, Ruby Tolja, Claire Moore, Beth Earthey, Rob Passaniti and Mary Ireland, and the parish staff, Jean McMahon, Sr Marie Egan RSJ, and Carolyn Watt.

Finally, I owe a depth of gratitude to Fr Roderick O'Brien, who has guided me and provided a model of priestly ministry.
